Understanding Market Sentiment
Sentiment here means positioning: what proportion of live accounts currently hold a long versus a short in each instrument, how much volume sits on each side, and where those positions were opened. It describes trades already on the book, which is why it behaves differently from surveys or opinion polls.
Positions and lots are not the same reading. Positions counts accounts; lots counts size. When 70% of accounts are long but only 40% of the volume is, a smaller number of accounts hold much larger shorts. Those divergences are usually more informative than either number on its own, which is why both views are available above.
Long / Short %
The split of open positions by direction. Always sums to 100, so a single number tells you the whole picture for that pair.
Positions vs Lots
Positions counts how many accounts. Lots counts how much size. Divergence between the two is where the interesting information usually is.
Average Price
The mean entry of the open positions on that side. Compare it to the current price to see whether the crowd is sitting in profit or underwater.
Crowding
How far the split sits from balanced. Beyond roughly 70/30 the positioning starts to matter; below 60/40 it is mostly noise.
Frequently asked
It aggregates the open positions of connected live trading accounts and splits them by direction, so you can see what proportion of the community is currently long versus short each pair, how much volume sits on each side, and the average price at which those positions were opened. It is a snapshot of positioning, not of opinion โ it reflects trades people already have on, not what they say they intend to do.
